Vivek Kundra

After much consternation, I’m hearing that “he-who-shall-not-be-named” — Vivek Kundra, the DC chief technology officer — will be named. I’m hearing that he will publicly appointed as the OMB administrator of e-government and information technology on Wednesday. Insiders tell me he was at DC Office of the Chief Technology Officer today wishing people well. And I say publicly because Kundra has been meeting with the federal CIO Council, so it is unclear whether he was officially in that position and they are just publicly announcing it tomorrow.

I don’t know — and I haven’t heard — if there will be a Obama CTO announcement tomorrow… or, in fact, if Beth Simone Noveck as part of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, where we believe the Obama CTO will reside, will be official tomorrow.

One person who was on most people’s Obama CTO list — Julius Genachowski — was officially named to be FCC chairman today. Of course, we knew that back in January … the OPM director was also named today. The White House doesn’t have the release posted online, but you can read their announcement after the break.
