Focusing on six words: Helping government do its job better

It’s official — the OMB CIO memo, that is

with 2 comments

OMB Deputy Director of Management Clay Johnson Wednesday signed off on the much discussed memo defining the role of the CIO. [The DorobekInsider got a draft copy of it earlier this week.]

I’m not sure where it will be posted — OMB’s Web site… or the federal CIO Council’s Web site.

We’re working on getting an official person on Federal News Radio to talk about it. Stay tuned.

  1. Hello Chris

The memo could’ve been even shorter and thus would’ve been more accurate. I say with tongue only partly in cheek, it could’ve said simply:

“Agency heads must consult with OMB before selecting your CIO. Attached is a list of the laws and policies your CIO is responsible for implementing. Please read them before contacting us.”

As now written, the memo emphasizes those things the current administration is interested in and omits or glosses over equally important other things. The reader is thus mislead.
