OMB’s CIO memo is official

leave a comment »

So OMB today posted the official signed memo defining the role of the CIO. You can read the OMB  memo here [.pdf]… or on OMB’s site here.

I haven’t had a chance to compare it to the draft, but…

Federal News Radio 1500 AM is all over it. We’re trying to get OMB’s Karen Evans on to talk about it on this afternoon’s Daily Debrief with Chris Dorobek and Amy Morris. We hope that can happen either today or tomorrow. Regardless, Federal News Radio’s Jason Miller is at OMB today for an event launching the fourth quarter IT management watch list and IT OMB high risk list. Evans will be talking about the memo there and we’ll get a report from Jason Miller.

We have already spoke about the memo with DOT CIO Dan Mintz on talking about the draft memo [MP3 here] and Roger Baker, the former Commerce Department CIO [MP3 here].

And today on Federal News Radio’s mid-day shot, InDepth with Francis Rose, he will be talking to Kim Nelson, the former EPA CIO, and John Gilligan, the former Air Force CIO.

It’s official — the OMB CIO memo, that is

with 2 comments

OMB Deputy Director of Management Clay Johnson Wednesday signed off on the much discussed memo defining the role of the CIO. [The DorobekInsider got a draft copy of it earlier this week.]

I’m not sure where it will be posted — OMB’s Web site… or the federal CIO Council’s Web site.

We’re working on getting an official person on Federal News Radio to talk about it. Stay tuned.
